Rohini Sector 18 Road Rage Assault: Delhi Police Arrest Accused After Swift Investigation
Delhi Police arrested an accused in a road rage incident near Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station traffic signal after a Rapido rider was assaulted with a helmet. Following a complaint posted on social media platform X, police examined CCTV footage, identified the suspect, and swiftly arrested him. The accused later confessed and expressed remorse.
According to an official update shared by Delhi Police on the social media platform X, the case pertained to a road rage assault in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samaypur Badli, under the swift action of the Outer North District Deputy Commissioner of Police team. The police confirmed that prompt action was initiated after a complaint surfaced online regarding the attack on a bike rider working with a ride-hailing service.
The incident came to light after a woman passenger, who was present at the scene, recorded and shared details of the confrontation. She stated that she had booked an Uber bike ride for a short distance of approximately five minutes. She further explained that the motorcycle carrying her was struck by another bike allegedly coming from the wrong direction. Following the collision, the rider from the other motorcycle allegedly stopped, removed the Rapido rider’s helmet, and struck him on the head with it.
She also stated that during the incident, fragments from the damaged helmet visor fell onto her, causing injury. The woman added that she confronted the accused, who then left the scene after behaving aggressively. She confirmed that she recorded the entire episode, noted the vehicle registration number, and immediately contacted the police emergency number.
Acting on the complaint, Delhi Police launched an immediate investigation. Officials examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspect. Based on technical and on-ground verification, the accused was traced and subsequently taken into custody.
In an official video released by Delhi Police, the accused is seen admitting to the offence. The accused identified himself as Gaurav and stated that the incident occurred approximately three to four days earlier near Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station while he was driving on the wrong side of the road. He admitted that a minor collision took place between the motorcycles and that, in a moment of anger, he struck the Rapido rider on the head with a helmet. He expressed regret for his actions and urged the public to strictly follow traffic regulations and drive responsibly.
The arrest highlights the swift response of Delhi Police in addressing road rage incidents through digital evidence, CCTV tracking, and immediate field coordination, reinforcing enforcement against reckless driving and public violence on roads.
